In September 1968, a group of overseas students from Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, alongside with several local Chinese residents started up a bible study session. It was then established as the Edinburgh Christian Fellowship later. Its core members were primarily students and especially Chinese local residents in the area. Their mission was to spread the gospel consistently. In 1982, Cantonese worship service was set up. Eventually, The Edinburgh Chinese Church was formally established on 23 June 1991 and was later renamed as the Edinburgh Chinese Christian Church in 1996.
